Ever got bored while Surfing with your Torrent downloading ?
Ever imagined how torrent works ?
Torrents download small bits of files from many source and it's one of the fastest file transferring medium.
Let us see how it works
When you download a torrent file with the ".torrent" extension your Web Browser (client) signals the server (the computer holding the file) to transfer a copy of the file you want to download.
Then, these files are stored on your PC by many other protocols, such as FTP (File Transfer Protocol) , HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol).
You might have seen the word "Peer" or the abbr. "P2P"
As you are downloading the torrent others might be downloading it or might have downloaded it already. In peer to peer (P2P), There's a program which locates computers that have the file that you want. These are the same ordinary computers which we have, these are called Peers.
So you download the file from peers and give the file to peers as you're also a peer ! Interesting, isn't it ?
Some people with high-speed internet download the file and immediately disconnect it which disallows the P2P process, these are called leechers and this is called Leeching.
The Computers with completed file "seed" the file it means that these share the file to other computers this is known as Seeding.
The Torrent Client downloads the file from several trackers, peers and seeds at different proportions depending upon their protocols (set of rules), speed etc.
So that's how torrents work !
The Better Client
Well , There are many torrent clients and it depends upon how you want to download torrents, some have more features, some simply download the torrents and some even help you check if they are spyware free !
BUT most of the torrent clients fail to give smooth browsing around the web while the torrent is downloading as some torrents need more bandwitch to download them.
I've used µTorrent, Bittorent, Vuze and many others.
They all are good at what they do which is downloading but they lack the perfect bandwitch management that I personally wanted.
I googled a lot and finally found a good torrent client which is faster than every client I've used and plus point is that it gives me smooth internet browsing while my torrent is on !
It's Called Tixati
The below screenshot shows the bandwitch management and its settings which you can change, the "Auto Limit" button automatically changes the download speed if you're surfing and minimizes it considering your browsing.
The below screenshot shows how you can easily change the bandwitch consumption of the torrent
